Traditional Window Bars (left) vs. barReleeze™ Window Security System (right)

barReleeze™ is a window security system built for any home. It mounts inside your window, connects to your smart home, and opens fast when it counts.

How it works.

Traditional window bars keep intruders out—but in an emergency, they keep you in. Window guards prevent falls but offer no security.

barReleeze™ solves both problems.

Recognized for the idea
and the build.

A functional, patent-pending prototype built to demonstrate smart window security, emergency egress, and smart home integration in a single system.

Where it started: a concept for a quick-release window security system recognized for its potential to address a gap that traditional window bars have never solved.

Designed to connect.

barReleeze™ is designed to work with leading smart home and fire safety systems, so your home's protection works together instead of in isolation.

Integrations are by design and in development. Specific platforms will be announced as partnerships are finalized.

Where it started.

Deigo King, founder of barReleeze™, standing with the first functional barReleeze™ prototype at the 2026 DifferenceMaker Idea Challenge

Deigo showcasing the first functional barReleeze prototype at the 2026 DifferenceMaker Idea Challenge, following his first place win in the 2025 Engineering Prototyping Competition.

Growing up in Jamaica, founder Deigo King knew firsthand the tension of living behind conventional window bars. The devastating 2009 Armadale fire, where victims couldn't escape through barred windows, made the stakes impossible to ignore. Deigo set out to change that.

His research showed the problem extended well beyond Jamaica. In the United States, window bars blocking emergency escape and children falling from unguarded windows are well-documented safety issues with serious and sometimes fatal consequences.

With a background in mechanical engineering, an MBA with a concentration in innovation and entrepreneurship, and more than ten years in construction and energy, Deigo developed barReleeze™. The patent-pending system is backed by a network of engineers and industry experts, and designed to close the gap between window security and emergency safety.

For innovators and early adopters.
